Peak Names: Terms of Use
Last updated: 2026-10-14
By using Peak Names: Mountain Finder AR ("the app"), made by Gnurt, you agree to these terms.
What the app does
The app works out which mountain summits can be seen from a place, using a terrain model and a list of named peaks, and shows their names over the camera picture or a drawing of the skyline. The results are a guide: the terrain model has a resolution of 90 to 180 metres, peak names and positions come from volunteers, and phone compasses can be disturbed by metal and magnets, so a label can sit beside the right summit or name a summit wrongly.
Not for navigation or safety
Do not use the app to navigate, to judge routes, distances or conditions, or in any situation where your safety depends on it. Mountains are dangerous: carry a proper map and compass, check the weather and know your limits. Do not use the phone while walking near edges or on difficult ground.
No warranty
The app is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, Gnurt is not liable for any damage, injury or loss arising from use of the app or of its results.
